Two arrested after mass brawl in Bergen – news Vestland

The battle between two larger groups is said to have started in Skipperstuen in Bergen. The police intervened after they had received reports of fights between what one thinks may be football supporters. It was VG who first mentioned the case. Most of those involved should have left the scene when the police arrived, writes Bergens Tidende. Several people were seen running from the place when the police arrived, says operations manager Jørgen Ommedal in the West police district to news. – One person was caught by the police and taken into custody. Another person was arrested outside Brann Stadion on the basis of descriptions. There are two men in their 20s from the Bergen area. Both are now in custody. Masked men According to Ommedal, no one was seriously injured, but a staff member at the outhouse has been sent to the emergency room. Bar manager Kristian Belsnes at Skipperstuen says it happened when a bartender tried to calm the mood. – Then she was knocked down from behind by someone she didn’t see. She was taken to the emergency room. As far as I know, she has not suffered serious physical injuries, but she is not very well, he says. On Thursday evening there was a series match between Brann and Start in Bergen. Many Start supporters gathered at Skipperstuen before the match. The row is said to have started when a group of masked men entered the pub. – They went straight on and stormed in. In the end, there was a mass fight with probably 30-40 people. They took everything they could find and threw it away and used it as an impact weapon, says Belsnes. Bar manager at the outdoor resort Skipperstuen in Bergen, Kristian Belsnes. It looked like a war zone. He thinks it’s unreal that something like this can happen at his workplace, and thinks it’s terrible that other guests end up in the middle of such a commotion. – Older guests sit here and are terrified and say it is the worst thing they have experienced in their entire lives. I think it’s terrible. That people should go on like this, and let it happen to innocent people, is completely unfathomable. The outdoor area is now cleared and remains open throughout the evening as normal. Collaborating with the police The management of Sports Club Brann calls the behavior of the involved supporters reprehensible. – We are aware that several of our supporters have been involved in a fight in the city center before the game tonight. We completely distance ourselves from all types of violence and this behavior is unacceptable, says the daily manager of Brann, Christian Kalvenes to Brann.no. He says the club is working closely with the police to get an overview of what has happened. – What consequences this will have for the supporters involved, we will come back to when we have a full overview of the situation, he says. Condemns the attack The leader of the fire battalion, Erlend Vågane, characterizes the incident as “terribly sad”. – I completely distance myself from this. It is completely unacceptable to attack a pub like this, he says. The leader of the Fire Battalion, Erlend Vågane, distanced himself from what was probably a clash between football supporters in Bergen. Photo: Silje Rognsvåg / news The leader of Start’s supporters club, Tigerberget, also distanced himself from what happened on Thursday. – It is very sad that a match between two teams that do not belong in the Obosliga should have such a prelude. My thoughts also go to those who were present and are not interested in football, and who suddenly find themselves in the middle of it.
