TV 2: 19 out of 24 nurses resign in protest

A total of 19 out of 24 intensive care nurses at the thoracic surgery department at Oslo University Hospital have quit their jobs in protest, says trustee in the Norwegian Nurses’ Association, Rolf-Andre Oxholm to TV 2. – There is a hail of resignations, and what is really dramatic now is that there are only five nurses left to run the department, he says. According to Oxholm, the reason for the mass redundancies is disagreement over the economic cuts that are now underway. The hospital will cut the equivalent of around 500 man-years. The department is responsible for diseases that require surgical treatment in the heart, lungs and central blood vessels.
