But more man-years must be added to the cut list. The municipal director says they are now working to find the last man-years. – We have carried out a thorough survey and a distribution based on the way we see it as most appropriate. The fact that there are the most cuts in health is about the fact that there are the most employees, according to the municipal director. Will not close services People will notice that several man-years are gone, Johansen believes. But: – We have no intention of closing any services. Some may have slightly reduced opening hours, and a reduction in service. But we do this without the major consequences for the citizens. Thomas Birkeland (Ap), leader of the health and welfare committee, is happy that there is a good process around cutting man-years. – We have to reduce the number of man-years, we have politically adopted and ordered that. It’s good we’re getting started on it. – It is natural that the reduction will be greatest where there are the most employees, says Birkeland. This was written by the municipal director in Tromsø municipality, Stig Tore Johnsen, in the financial report for the first four months of the year. – Not a cut list we want The trade union representatives stand behind the cut list for the municipal director, according to Maika Soleng, chief shop steward at the Trade Union Confederation. – This has been a close dialogue and process with all the trade unions and the municipality. If there had been cuts in staffing in the health services, we would have been very worried, says Soleng. Katrine Aursand, local team leader in the Education Association, does the same. – It is not a cut list that we want, but we see that we have to take some action. Then it is very important that we are with you all the way. Published 27.08.2024, at 08.05
