The Telemark district court has concluded that the defendant has done what she is accused of and that she has done this with the necessary intent. There is nothing about her or the situation that gives grounds for exonerating her from guilt. The conclusion is that the woman is guilty of attempted murder of her mother. The Telemark district court has sentenced the 36-year-old daughter to seven and a half years in prison. The hospital discovered rat poison The mother fell ill several times while her daughter was staying at her home. The last time the mother became so ill that the local hospital forwarded her to the National Hospital. The condition was so serious that the family was called, but the doctors managed to save her life. Only when rat poison was detected in the woman’s body was the alarm raised. The daughter was shortly afterwards arrested and charged with having attempted to kill her mother. She has always refused and still does. The 36-year-old became curious about Islam after a break-up a few years ago. This led to her relatively quickly becoming a believing and practicing Muslim. She began a relationship with a man in Pakistan, whom she has not physically met. The 36-year-old was and still is of the opinion that the two should marry. Was frustrated and could not afford it – The defendant has had very poor finances over some time. She had significant debts. The court assumes that she assumed that she would get a balance in her own finances if she inherited her mother. The defendant has also, in videos to his girlfriend in Pakistan, expressed a serious frustration and negativity related to his mother’s reaction to the fact that the defendant had become a Muslim, the court writes in its judgment. The prosecution believes the daughter served her mother poisoned food or drink with rat poison that she had ordered by mail order from abroad. – The evidence has shown that the defendant gave this to his mother on several occasions and in relatively large doses. When she several times gave large doses of the drugs to her mother, she considered it most likely that the mother would die. She thus had intent that included the consequences of death, the judgment states. Before the trial, the woman was examined by psychiatrists who concluded that she is healthy. Nevertheless, doubts arose about the woman’s sanity midway through the trial, which triggered new investigations where the conclusion was the same.
