– It is tragic. I do not know what to say. That’s what Tove Sveum says. She is among those affected by the fire in Gjøvik on Monday evening. A fire started in the terraced house outside the center of Gjøvik on Monday afternoon. The fire spread quickly and a total of six apartments were burnt down. 15 people have lost their homes. Dramatic experience Tove was in the garden mowing the lawn when she discovered the fire. She heard a bang behind her from a window exploding. – Then I ran in to get my husband and son out of the basement, says Tove. Tove ran back to the garden and took out the garden hose to try to extinguish the fire. – But it was like a drop in the ocean, she says. Nevertheless, Tove stood with the garden hose until the fire brigade arrived. She had inhaled smoke and was helped by an ambulance. INVESTIGATORS: The incident leader told news on Monday evening that they suspect how the fire in the terraced house may have started, but will not say anything more about it as they investigate the case further. Tove stayed there last night, but there hasn’t been much sleep. Tove thinks the help has been good so far, but now she is asking questions about what happens next. – I don’t know how long we will be here, we have to have somewhere to live. This afternoon, news tried to get in touch with the police about the status of the investigation into the fire, but was unable to get a comment on the matter. OA writes that on Tuesday morning and in the morning it was still not ready for the police to start their investigations – it was too hot. Sveen says that there are more people who want to contribute to the evacuees: – I see that some people want to create a joint for residents. Others have been encouraged to look at the possibility of finding housing for the individuals. I myself have contacted Gjøvik housing foundation to find out if they have apartments that residents can stay in.
