– Tough to hear that she is in such a situation – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

– Of course it’s boring. There have been all kinds of bad experiences for Tiril in the past ten months and that is something you don’t wish on anyone. It is hard to hear that she is in such a situation, says Elvira Öberg. In an interview with news on Wednesday, Eckhoff said that she is uncertain about the future and will probably make a choice after the season whether to continue her career. She has not been in competition since March 20 last year, but is now back in training. Elvira’s sister, Hanna Öberg, is full of praise for Eckhoff. – She has set a completely new standard with her speed on her skis and also in periods where she didn’t miss either. Then she was almost unbeatable, says Öberg. She hopes Eckhoff will return to competition before she gives up. – It sounds very boring to have such an ending. She has been so very skilled, and ending by not competing seems boring, says Hanna Öberg to news. Opened up in news interview In an interview on Wednesday, Tiril Eckhoff talked about how she has experienced the past few months. The biathlon star has not competed since the World Cup final in Holmenkollen last March. A number of performers were infected by the coronavirus there, including Eckhoff. – It started with Covid, then I developed a bit of each of sleep problems and various other things. I have received good health care and been well followed up, but have found out that there is nothing to ski on, said Eckhoff to news. The sleep problems in particular were challenging for the 32-year-old. – It’s something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy to struggle with right away, she said. Tandrevold will support Eckhoff “no matter what” Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Eckhoff have been very close for several years and they had, among other things, the podcast “Kant ut” together. – Regardless of whether she Tiril is going to do biathlon or quit, she is going to be a very big part of my life and an equally good friend regardless. The only thing I do is support Tiril no matter what she chooses, she says, and continues: – The most important thing is that she only makes a choice that is based on what she feels is right for her, and not what others around her want or what others around expect. SUPPORTS ECKHOFF: Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold (left) is clear that she will support her teammate. Photo: Primoz Lovric / NTB Tandrevold tells news that she is sure that Eckhoff will do well, whether she chooses to return to biathlon or takes a step away from the sport. – I try to help, analyze what one could think of doing and see the bigger picture. After all, biathlon is life and has been our life for a very long time. It can be frightening if you then consider doing something else. The only thing I want to do is support Tiril no matter what she chooses, she says. Røiseland: – Missing her Someone who has missed her is Marte Olsbu Røiseland. Like Eckhoff, she had health problems in the run-up to the season, but she returned to competition just after the New Year and was on the Norwegian team for gold in the mixed relay on Wednesday. – We both worked this autumn towards getting back to the World Cup and hoped we would be here together. That was our goal. Now I’m standing here and it’s boring that Tiril didn’t come here. When asked what she thinks about the fact that Eckhoff might now want to quit, she replies: – It is 100 per cent Tiril’s choice. After all, we are both starting to age and if she feels it, then she has achieved an incredible amount in biathlon. She will remain a legend regardless. Of course, I hope she wants to take a few more years, but I fully understand if she doesn’t want to. Tiril will probably have a very good life no matter what she chooses, says Røiseland. TEAM FRIENDS FOR MANY YEARS: Tiril Eckhoff (left) and Marte Olsbu Røiseland (right) could cheer together after finishing first and second at the start of the hunt in Holmenkollen last year. Photo: Terje Bendiksby / NTB – Tiril is a really cute girl. Exuberant, good mood and lots of fun. Both gentle and also a bit temperamental. It’s been great fun all the years we’ve had together and all the memories we’ve had together. It’s very strange to be in the championship without her. It doesn’t feel quite right. I miss her on tour. I really do, but I hope she has a good time at home, she continues. – Always fun with her Eckhoff told news that she probably won’t go to any races this season and that she is unsure whether she wants to continue her career. She will probably make that decision after the season. Denise Herrmann-Wick says she understands that it may be the end of Eckhoff. – It’s a bit sad, but sometimes life changes. It’s sad because I like competing with her. It was always fun with her. It wasn’t that serious all the time. I’ve been missing her all winter and wondering when she’ll be back and if we can compete against each other again. The next competition in the biathlon World Cup is the women’s sprint on Friday at 2.30 pm. The race is broadcast on TV 2 and the radio channel news Sport.
