Today, Elin, Terje and the 19-year-old who has been charged with murder are buried – news Nordland

Three coffins next to each other in Røsvik church. Death came so harshly and suddenly, and took you away so hastily. Remembered with love. The obituary of Elin Nordhei Bordi (46) and Terje Åsmund Nordhei (46) bears witness to the dramatic event on the night of New Year’s Day this year. The family in Sørfold is described as a “completely ordinary family”. But today Elin and Terje were buried together with Elin’s 19-year-old son, after the dramatic night that cost three lives. The 19-year-old is charged with the murders, in addition to the attempted murder of his underage half-sister. In the memorial speech that was held, the 19-year-old was described as caring and a role model for his siblings and a good brother for everyone. A freshman who was always full of inventions. This is how Terje Åsmund Nordhei was described by parish priest Lisbeth Gieselmann. – It is not often that we meet at a funeral and see three coffins. At least in such a context, says provost Sven Becker. – All of this will go down in the history of our small community and in various ways stay with us further. All three will be buried together, according to the wishes of the family. TRAGEDY: New Year’s Eve ended in tragedy for the family in Sørfold in Nordland. And adds: – Today will be filled with sadness – not just in Røsvik church, but in our entire local community. Grief is, after such events, hard to get through, and for some the grief will be something that will last for a long, long time. Today we are a whole community that goes together with the bereaved to Røsvik church to say goodbye to three of our residents, says mayor Kolbjørn Mathisen in Sørfold. Photo: Ola Helness / news The church was opened to the public at 09.30, an hour and a half before the funeral started. – We expect that there are many who want to say their final goodbyes to these three. That is why we are opening up for an earlier admission, says Provost Becker. The case has received a lot of attention from the press. The media gained access to the church early Tuesday morning. – We understand that this is an incident of national interest. At the same time, this is primarily a personal and family event. Combining the two is not always easy, but I hope that we have a road map and an agreement with both the family and the media that makes it easy for everyone, says Becker. But even if the three victims are buried, the police are still working on the case. Does not want to speak The main theory of the police is that the 19-year-old killed his mother and stepfather, injured his half-sister, before taking his own life. But they struggle to clarify the motive behind the murders. As part of the investigation, autopsies have been carried out on the dead. It is also checked for any drugs. At this time, the police do not want to comment on where they stand in the investigation. Tor Haug is defending the accused 19-year-old. He has not received an answer to any of the investigations carried out in the case. Eirik André Simonsen is legal aid for the estate of Terje Åsmund Nordhei. – The family wants the funeral and everything around it to take place as one ceremony. There is no desire to give any further justification for this, says Simonsen to news. THE WORK CONTINUES: Police prosecutor Kristine Pedersen leads the investigation into the murders in Sørfold.
