Tiller fell short in the breakaway

21 July 2023 at 17:06 Tiller fell short in the breaking battle – Mohoric won an incredibly smooth sprint After an intense breaking day, Uno-X managed to get four riders into a group of just over 30 riders heading into the final climb on Friday’s 19th stage of the Tour de France. There, Rasmus Tiller was the great hope for the Norwegian team, on a stage where the team really set the tone for the stage. At the bottom of the climb up Côte d’Ivory, Kasper Asgreen, Matej Mohoric and Ben O’Connor attacked, while Tiller joined the first group behind them, around 15-20 seconds behind the tight trio. In the last three miles towards the finish, however, the trio held off, while Tiller did not join the first group when the group behind split in two. Asgreen thus got the chance to win for the second day in a row. In what turned out to be an incredibly even sprint, however, it was Matej Mohoric who emerged victorious and narrowly won ahead of Asgreen. Mohoric was on Asgreen’s wheel for a long time, but came up on the side in the last 50 meters and won after a brilliant move. – Kasper Asgreen only loses there because he miscalculates the feature, said TV 2’s expert commentator Thor Hushovd. Neither of the two cheered when they crossed the finish line, but word quickly came that it was Mohoric who had won the stage. Tiller was eventually number 21 on the stage. The victory is Mohoric’s third career Tour de France stage win, after winning two stages in 2021, and after the stage, tears of joy came almost immediately for Mohoric.
