In addition to the  waiting times , other crucial details must be acknowledged when planning to cross the border, notably the  operating hours  of each garita. Understanding this information is essential for a smooth crossing experience, as service hours can change depending on the garita you choose.

La Garita de San Ysidro operates  24 hours  a day for vehicle crossings, including  Standard ,  Ready Lane , and  Sentri  modalities. However, if you plan to walk across, pedestrian hours are from  6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  every day.

The Garita de Otay Mesa also offers  24-hour service  for vehicles and pedestrians, covering all crossing categories including Standard, Ready Lane, and Sentri. Yet, the  commercial crossings  occur daily from  6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  only.

Conversely, the Chaparral Garita exclusively provides  pedestrian service  and is open from  6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  daily.

Traveling through these border crossings requires careful planning, with waiting times and schedules being critical factors to consider. The heavy traffic and the function of these borders affect not only individual travelers but also significant commercial operations; therefore, staying informed is essential for an efficient experience.
