On 7 December 2022, a kindergarten was on tour in the area of Berg in Tromsø municipality. The children had been told to look for Santa, and clues led them to a cellar hatch. One of the employees in the nursery opened the hatch in the foundation wall and saw a bag inside the opening. They opened the bag, observed what they thought were drugs and then contacted the police. The police came to the scene and it eventually turned out that there were 4,795 grams of amphetamine, 695 grams of cocaine and 562 grams of hashish in the bag. Replaced the contents of the bag The police replaced the drugs in the bag and then placed it back in the same place. They then set up police surveillance of the area and waited for the bag to be collected. And that was it. In the evening of the same day, two men appeared in a taxi. One was arrested by the police, while the other man escaped and was arrested an hour later. The police seized a total of 562 grams of hashish. Here they make up a large part of the party. What the police believed to be the main person pleaded guilty after the indictment, while the other defendant denied criminal guilt. The third person pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of drugs. Parts of the drugs were vacuum packed and had their own “brand name”. State prosecutor Tor Børge Nordmo was the prosecutor when the case went to court. Photo: Aurora Berg / news The penalties are lower than what prosecutor Tor Børge Nordmo claimed. He informs news that he has just received and read the verdict. – We see that the sentence is a good deal lower for one of the defendants than what we asked for. We will have to take note of that, and then we will have to consider whether we should appeal. But I haven’t decided on that yet, says Nordmo. The prosecutor asked for imprisonment for five years and 11 months for defendant number one, imprisonment for five years and three months for defendant number two, and imprisonment for two years and eight months for the third defendant.
