Thousands of Israelis mobilize for war – news Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

Tel Aviv is about to wake up after the terror weekend Hamas was behind. – I don’t like war and can’t contribute to the war itself, but I want to contribute with everything else. That’s why I signed up for voluntary service. That’s what Hila says when news meets her in a hangar in Tel Aviv. This hangar is a central part of the voluntary work that has been started. Several thousand volunteers have collected clothes, food, water and other essential supplies. These are supplies that are mainly intended for Israel’s reserve forces. Hila is one of many who contribute to charity work in Tel Aviv. Photo: Håvard Greger Hagen / news Thousands of volunteers contribute The charity actions are organized through social media. People are encouraged to come to the square and contribute what they can. – The help comes from both companies and private individuals. People bring everything from food, water, clothes, toys and smoke, says Hila. Then trucks full of supplies are loaded and driven to a hangar south of Tel Aviv. The goods are sorted there by thousands of volunteers. – This feels like a holocaust to us. We are tired of being hunted like animals. It’s going to be ugly and tough when we fight back, says Leor, who is a volunteer. From the hangar, the supplies are transported to where they are needed, including to those who have been evacuated from their homes and sent to areas around Tel Aviv. Those living in the north of Israel are being evacuated for fear of attacks from Hezbollah. Those in the south are being evacuated for fear of more attacks from Hamas. Over 300,000 reserve soldiers There is a tense atmosphere in the streets of Tel Aviv on Monday. People are nervous, angry and scared. Armed police accompany. Several are vengeful and believe that Hamas should be crushed and Gaza bombed. Israel chose on Monday to mobilize a large proportion of reserve forces. Over 300,000 women and men. These are people who usually work as everything from doctors, dentists and teachers. They are called in at short notice to help in the impending war against Hamas and are transported to where the need is greatest. Although there have been some dramatic days in Israel, Hila is not afraid. – I trust the army 100 percent. We have the best soldiers in the world. They are going to give a forceful response to the attacks. Correspondent Yama Wolasmal reports from the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, where the population is mobilizing for an all-out war against Hamas. 300,000 reserve soldiers have been called up after the surprise attack by Hamas. – Feels like a holocaust Leor is another volunteer. She belongs to the left in Israeli politics and is a sworn pacifist. In recent months, she has demonstrated against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-reaching government. Now, however, she says that she has no other choice but to support the war and the soldiers. – This feels like a holocaust to us. We are tired of being hunted like animals. It’s going to be ugly and tough when we fight back. Leor contributes to the charity work from the hangar south of Tel Aviv. Photo: Yama Wolasmal / news She breaks down when asked if she can summarize the situation in one word. – Apocalypse, she repeats twice as the tears press on. – It will never end, if there is one thing that is certain, it is that we will always be hunted.
