This shows the housing statistics for 2022 – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

On Tuesday, the Association of Boligproduserenes presents the housing statistics for 2022, which show figures for the sale and commencement of new housing in Norway during last year. – The main impression is that it is the weakest year since the financial crisis, says Lars Jacob Hiim, managing director of Boligproduktorene. – Many projects have been put on hold or cancelled, and we unfortunately see dismissals and redundancies in industries, he says. The decline was large for apartments at the end of the year. – The housing year has been characterized by great uncertainty. Many negative factors have affected the market at the same time; increased construction costs, higher interest rates, inflation, reduced purchasing power, energy prices, war in Ukraine and the aftermath of the corona pandemic. In addition, protracted planning and building case processes in the municipalities have increased construction costs and slowed down many projects, says Hiim. He is concerned about the housing supply throughout the country. – We see a particular challenge for Oslo and Akershus, where 3,077 fewer housing units were sold in 2022 than in 2021. This is a drop of as much as 35 per cent. The historically weak sales in 2022 mean that the time ahead will be demanding, says Hiim. – Companies must cut costs and adapt to a tighter market.
