Trump escaped the assassination with only minor injuries. He was quickly discharged from hospital. But a 50-year-old man in the audience was killed and two more injured. The alleged perpetrator, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed on the spot. He fired at Trump from a roof a little less than 150 meters from where Trump spoke.
