Days before Zaniar Matapour shot and killed two people and injured several others at nightclubs in Rosenkrantz’ gate in Oslo, this came out in conversations between a Norwegian Islamist and the National Intelligence Service: They are talking about a brother. The Islamist confirms that the “brother’s” intention is in the country the “brother” and the Islamist himself come from. The Islamist’s lawyer states that he does not wish to comment on the case. It is not known how long the agent spoke to the Islamist before 19 June, but Matapour’s defender Marius Dietrichson has previously stated that he believes several messages are missing from the material from the e-service. This foreign fighter has been under investigation by PST, and traveled from Norway to Syria. He has been suspected of participating in a terrorist organisation, but the case against him was dropped in 2020. The reason was that the authorities thought he had been killed. The authorities have also been aware that the foreign fighter used this nickname. The Islamist then asks the agent from the E-service if he knows other Norwegian “brothers”. The cases against them were dropped because the authorities assume that the foreign fighters have been killed. He traveled to the country shortly before the shooting. The Norwegian authorities are working to get Arfan Bhatti extradited from Pakistan. Confirming intent in the country both come from June 22, there are still three days until two people are killed in a London pub. Towards the end of the conversation between the agent and the Islamist that night, the agent asks a question. The agent wonders if the brother’s “niyyah” is in the infidel country they are both from. Naming Bhatti and Matapour after the attack In the day after the terrorist attack in Oslo, the Islamist shares the contact information of what the Islamist says is Arfan Bhatti. The Islamist shares concerns about whether it is wise for IS to take responsibility for the attack, now that Matapour has been captured.
