Penelope “Penny” Mordaunt is among the more experienced conservatives who were also Brexit supporters from the beginning. In the last poll, Mordaunt comes in a good second place. He was appointed Minister of Education last autumn, and on Tuesday night quickly took up the post of Minister of Finance to replace Sunak. The man who came as a refugee from Iraq when he was little has a strong history, but there are concerns about Zahawi’s somewhat loose relationship with money. Interior Minister Priti Patel. Patel has strong support in the more right-wing part of the party, and has fronted one has immigration policy. But accusations of bullying and bad ethical decisions can hurt her chances.
