Trump’s defense lawyer for attorney general After Republican representative Matt Gaetz withdrew from the race for attorney general, Trump nominated Pam Bondi in his place. Bondi was one of Trump’s defense lawyers the first time he was impeached by the Senate, and was acquitted. Duffy is a former presenter for Fox Business and formerly “The Real World” on MTV. He quit his Fox job earlier this month. Unlike many of the other Fox nominees, Duffy has a background in politics. He was a congressional representative for Wisconsin between 2011 and 2019, but has little or no experience in transportation, according to CNN. AFP Mike Huckabee Nominated for Ambassador to Israel. Huckabee hosted a live program on Fox News for seven years. In addition, he has been governor of Arkansas. The office does not necessarily mean control over the US’s Israel policy. But Huckabee is an evangelical Christian, and has been a strong voice in support of Israel throughout his career, saying that “there is no such thing as a Palestinian”, according to CNN. Reuters Tulsi Gabbard Nominated for head of national intelligence. Gabbard was a paid contributor to Fox News until August 2024. She previously represented the Democrats in Congress, but joined the Republican Party to support Trump. If she gets the job, she wants to run the CIA and the FBI, among other things. Opponents believe she has contributed to the spread of conspiracy theories and Russian propaganda, writes the BBC. ANDREW CABALLERO-REYNOLDS / AFP / NTB Tom Homan Nominated for “border manager”. Architect of Project 2025 In one of his first interviews as head of the power transfer team, Howard Lutnick, he said there would be “absolutely no one” who had worked on Project 2025 in the new government. Ratcliffe is a former representative of Texas in Congress, and was also national intelligence chief for Trump during his first term as president. In this job, Ratcliffe will help “counter the serious threats from China, Russia, Iran and North Korea”, says the head of the House of Representatives’ intelligence committee to the New York Times. AP Brendan Carr Nominated to Hire Federal Communications Commission. Carr wrote an entire chapter in the report Project 2025 about this commission, after being appointed as a member by Trump himself in 2017. Shortly after the nomination was announced, Carr wrote on X: – We must abolish the censorship cartel and re-introduce the rights of freedom of speech for ordinary Americans. AP Pete Hoekstra Nominated for Ambassador to Canada. When Trump was last president, he appointed the leader of the Republicans in Michigan as ambassador to the Netherlands.
