It’s a fun thing, says mayor Isak Veierud Busch (Ap) Two years after they became engaged, the former cross-country runner and rower get married in Bergstaden Ziir in Røros. There has been a lot of snow this Christmas. Then it is fitting that one of our biggest winter sports stars chooses to have his wedding in such a place, says Busch. It was on the plane home that they met each other for the first time. Hoff said in an interview on Lindmo that he quickly got Johaug on the radar. She didn’t know much about Hoff’s rowing career, but thought he was a physiotherapist. – And he was damn handsome, she revealed in the interview with Lindmo. After several years as lovers, Hoff decided to propose on New Year’s Eve in 2021. The plan was to take Johaug on an evening ski trip under the stars. – I shook my hands when I was going to take out the skis. I was insanely nervous. It was a big moment, Hoff said. On New Year’s Eve, Therese Johaug published a picture of herself with a ring on her finger with her fiancé on Instagram. Below the picture it says: 2021 hid the best for last. Happy New Year. The old wooden houses on Røros, with the large church, which is also called Bergstaden Ziir, make Røros a place many choose to get married. Especially in winter. – There are many people who come to Røros on one’s errand to get married. We have a rather special church building here. So you get very nice surroundings for a wedding. Then there are also many people who are married civilly here, says the mayor. But he thinks today’s wedding will attract a little more attention than usual. – The Røros community wishes the bride and groom all the best for their love and happiness, concludes Busch.
