The British billionaire landed an agreement on the acquisition on the eve of 2023, but only now is everything formal in the Premier League, writes Sky Sports, which also states that the deal is awaiting approval from the English Football Association (FA). The Premier League has confirmed the acquisition in a press release. Ratcliffe has not taken it easy while waiting for the approval. Already last month, the 71-year-old played a role in the recruitment of Omar Berrada from Manchester City. The Spaniard takes over as United’s managing director this summer. In addition, Ratcliffe and several key people in Ineos’ sports investment have had meetings with United’s players and supporter groups. Even though Ratcliffe is not a majority owner, he has nevertheless been contractually bound by the fact that he and Ineos get control of everything football-related in Manchester United. Ratcliffe pays around NOK 16 billion for the shareholding in the club. He has promised to make significant investment to take United back to the top.
