On Thursday morning, it is possible to take a train between Larvik and Skien for the first time in several days. Vestfoldbanen has been closed between Larvik and Porsgrunn since Monday afternoon. The Norwegian Railway Inspectorate ordered Bane Nor to close the section because there was a lack of documentation about the signaling system. Bane Nor has now received a temporary permit which allows the track to be reopened. – The permit is valid until 22 December, and by then we must have submitted correct documentation, so that we get a permanent permit in place, says CEO Thor Gjermund Eriksen. The double track that the trains run on between Larvik and Porsgrunn was opened in 2018. On 1 December this year, Bane Nor’s eighth temporary permit to use the facility expired. Now there is a new temporary permit that allows trains to run on the route until 22 December.
