July 13, 2022 at 20:24 The verdict in the case between Heard and Depp remains standing The actress Amber Heard is not upheld after she requested that the verdict in the civil case between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp be set aside. Heard was sentenced to pay Depp $ 10 million in damages for defamation after she wrote a newspaper article in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence. Depp, in turn, was sentenced to pay her ex-wife $ 2 million in damages because the court found she was being defamed by Depp’s lawyer. Earlier in July, Heard filed a motion that the verdict against her be set aside or that the trial be declared invalid. Her lawyers justified the request on a number of different grounds, but Judge Penney Azcarate dismissed all. In Wednesday’s ruling, she states that Heard can also not show that she was prejudged. Heard still has the opportunity to appeal the verdict to the Virginia Court of Appeals. (NTB / AP)
