The processing applies to both sentencing and civil compensation claims. Abdella Ahmed Haji was sentenced both in the Bergen District Court and the Gulating Court of Appeal to 21 years in custody. He appealed the case to the Supreme Court, which has now decided to deal with it. After the verdict in the Court of Appeal, his defender Morten Grimstad believed that the conditions for a custodial sentence had not been met. He believes that Haji should instead have been sentenced to prison, as a minority of the professional judges believed.
