Bane NOR’s appeal is thus rejected, the Supreme Court writes. On 24 February 2019, three young people entered Bane Nor’s train car park at Filipstad in Oslo. The young people climbed onto the roof of a train. 15-year-old Even Warsla Meen lost his life on the spot when he received power from an overhead line with 15,000 volts. When the 15-year-old came into contact with the power, an explosion occurred. His two friends were thrown to the ground. A 15-year-old boy from Oslo and a 16-year-old girl from Drammen were seriously injured. Many lit candles and laid flowers at the accident site. A report from the Accident Investigation Board Norway stated that the area was not secured well enough. The railway company was also charged with negligent homicide, bodily injury and lack of area security. Bane Nor accepted parts of the fine. They admitted that the area was too poorly secured, but denied criminal guilt for the death and injuries. In Oslo District Court, the company was found guilty of violating the safety regulations. But they were acquitted of negligent murder of 15-year-old Even Warsla Meen and negligent bodily harm to his two friends. When the case was up in the Court of Appeal, the company was found guilty on all counts. Therefore, Bane Nor appealed the case to the Supreme Court, which has now concluded in the case.
