22 November 2022 at 13:18 Storting postpones decision on tax claim for the second time The Storting’s presidency held a meeting on Tuesday about whether the Storting as an institution will accept the tax claim from the tax authority. The meeting did not reach a solution, and the decision has been postponed for a second time. Storting President Masud Gharahkhani says he hopes for a decision tomorrow. The Norwegian Tax Agency believes that the Storting has paid too little in employer’s tax and has imposed additional tax on the Storting following the review of the commuter housing cases. Additional tax is a type of penalty tax that can be given if missing information has given tax advantages. There has been great tension as to how the Storting would react to the decision. When the Storting received the advance warning from the Norwegian Tax Agency this summer, they responded with harsh criticism of the tax authorities. The Storting believed that the regulations had been unclear and that the Tax Agency had given insufficient guidance. Now the decision on how the Storting will deal with the decision has been postponed once again.
