The special unit has given Sør-Aust police district a corporate penalty of NOK 300,000 for grossly negligent service errors. Sør-Aust police district contacted the Special Unit after a person was killed by his lover in a flat in Mjøndalen on 15 December 2022. The victim was 44-year-old Siw Karlsen. The special unit started an investigation to clarify whether the police district had given the deceased adequate follow-up and protection. Politmeister Ole B. Sæverud says that preventing violence in close relationships is a priority, and that the serious outcome shows the need for learning.
