The Slovenian cross-country team is in mourning and shock after 19-year-old Hana Mazi Jamnik lost her life in a collision with a truck on Thursday morning. This is what assistant lawyer Anne Kroken tells news. Now the team coached by Norwegian Ola Vigen Hattestad is canceling their training stay in Sandnes. – The team had originally planned to travel tomorrow, but instead traveled home to Slovenia this morning. They have expressed that they have greatly benefited from the crisis aid they have received from the municipality, she says. Coach Vigen Hattestad and his co-coach are still in Norway and will be there as long as necessary. According to what news learns, the national team was in a row when the accident happened. Jamnik went last in line. – The coaches were on the scene shortly after the accident. They are of course deeply affected by the unbelievably sad things that have happened. This is an extremely demanding situation, says Kroken. – They are in shock Jamnik’s parents participated today in a video meeting together with the police, the public prosecutor and Slovenia’s coaching team. Here, they talked, among other things, about Jamnik’s experience of roller skiing along busy roads. – She was probably used to this. She is used to the traffic and the roads in Slovenia, where, according to the coaches, less consideration is given to those who go on roller skis than what normally happens in Norway, says Kroken. She also says that the deceased 19-year-old’s parents seem to be stunned by what has happened. Anne Kroken is a legal aid lawyer and says the entire team at Jamnik is strongly affected by what happened. Photo: Mathias Oppedal / news – It was not long ago that it happened, and they received this absolutely terrible message yesterday. As I understand it, it was the coaches who contacted them and told them about this. They are in shock and it is completely unbelievable. The parents now want to get their daughter home as soon as possible. The police must have finished the autopsy on her. – There are a number of formalities and a number of things to be arranged, but what we are trying to do now is to get this done as quickly as possible, says Kroken. Roses and candles are laid out during Friday afternoon in the Botsheitunellen. Photo: Even Hye Tytlandsvik Barka / news Pål Morten Borgli is the deputy mayor of Sandnes, where the Slovenian team took part in the Blink festival last week. He believes that many people associated with the festival are now having a tough time. – It hurts for them too, and for the entire sports environment, says Borgli. Will not say whether the suspicion has been strengthened. The driver of the lorry that supported Jamnik has been charged with a breach of the Road Traffic Act. The driver denies criminal liability. At present, the police will not give a clear answer as to whether the suspicion against the driver has been strengthened. – Here we have to wait for reports from the forensic investigations and a report from the National Road Administration’s accident group, says police attorney Vivild Omdal Bredal to news. – Have you started to form a picture of what has happened? – It’s an accident that happened inside a slightly dark tunnel. The question is whether the driver of the car had the opportunity to spot her and react before the collision. Omdal Bredal also says that the investigation is still ongoing with great strength.
