12 January 2023 at 10:47 SSB: The shortage of nurses will only increase in the future The shortage of nurses, healthcare workers, social workers and occupational therapists will increase in the future, new figures from Statistics Norway show. – Despite the fact that the coming aging of the population has been known for a long time, too few nurses are trained. The shortage of nurses is expected to worsen in the coming years. The situation is not improved by the fact that, at the same time, there appears to be a growing shortage of healthcare workers, social care nurses and occupational therapists, writes Statistics Norway in the report. With the continuation of the current patterns of education and immigration, it is expected that there will be a fair balance between supply and demand for doctors, physiotherapists, health nurses and radiographers until 2040. However, there may be an ample supply of psychologists, dentists and dental hygienists in the years ahead. (NTB)
