The selection committee comes up with a recommendation – news Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

Today, we have a patchwork of additional points and ranking opportunities, where age trumps competence. This means that many people take a long time to get started with their studies, said head of the Admissions Committee Marianne Aasen when the report was delivered to Research and Higher Education Minister Ola Borten Moe today. Here are the proposals: The committee will remove the current system of age and additional points. The points delay the start of higher education. Improved grades shall not count towards admission. Applicants who need a second chance should instead be able to take an entrance exam. 20% of the places are set aside for an entrance examination quota. Gender points are to be replaced by gender quotas on some educations. The option to set grade requirements for entry into an education is proposed to be discontinued. This applies, among other things, to the current grade requirements for teacher training and nursing training.
