– Everything for Norway! It will be a memory for life, so to speak, says Masud Gharahkhani. Where most people might want a playstation, kitchen appliances or a new jacket under the tree, the gang in Ytre Enebakk got the Storting president under the tree earlier today. The tree for Vandrehallen is slightly larger than the Christmas tree the President of the Storting usually takes home for Christmas. Photo: Gorm Kallestad / NTB – It took a slightly unexpected turn, but it was completely undramatic. You could say that I got to feel the tree on my body. So I already have a close relationship with this branch, says Gharahkhani to NTB. It is tradition that the tree that will stand in Vandrehallen at the Stortinget is felled in Ytre Enebakk. This year, the president of the Storting wanted to take part, and brought a jigsaw to get the job done. Everything had to be ready for Gharahkhani to safely fell the tree that would please the people. The gang in Ytre Enebakk probably did not imagine getting their own parliamentary president under the Christmas tree this year. Photo: Gorm Kallestad / NTB – I was lying under the fir tree and sawing, and then the tree didn’t quite go in the direction we had envisioned. People were a little stressed there for a while, but everything went well with both me and grana. Two people had to help remove the tree, which landed partly on top of the president of the Storting. Now he even jokes that the picture of him under the tree might be the Christmas card for 2023, when this year’s Christmas card has already been sent out.
