Photo: Martin Torstveit / news Should have been followed up by the police – The incident we were told was then clarified and the emergency was over. It was therefore considered that there was no reason to do anything other than agree to follow-up during the day today. Kostveit describes it as a disagreement or an incident of violence. – They were at the emergency room in Porsgrunn when the woman called the police. A few hours later, however, the police chose to move out. Then came the news about what turned out to be a murder committed in an apartment for which the young couple had recently entered into a lease. The apartment is located in a residential area in the district of Hovenga in Porsgrunn. Kostveit confirms that both the accused and the deceased were inside the apartment when the police arrived. The woman is barely known to the police from the past, but Kostveit emphasizes that she has no previous criminal convictions. – The deceased is not known to the police either. – Many things that can be used as murder weapons He would not confirm on Monday afternoon what the murder weapon was, beyond ruling out that firearms were involved. – There is certainly a lot that can be used in an apartment, so we will have to wait until the technicians are finished at the scene, says the police inspector. The police have cordoned off the area around the apartment where the murder was committed. Photo: Richard Aune / news Porsgrunn municipality has put its crisis team on standby after the murder. Kostveit says that both the accused and the deceased have connections to Telemark. – The accused is from Agder and the deceased was from Vestfold, but both have stayed in Telemark for some time. – Many unanswered questions Lawyer Hanne Wold Johansen at Elden Advokatfirma has been appointed as legal counsel for the bereaved. – The survivors naturally have many unanswered questions now, and look forward to the investigation providing as many answers as possible, writes Johansen in a press release. Consent to custody Police Inspector Kostveit says that the accused woman has been cooperative with the police, but that she has not yet been formally questioned. Lawyer Heidi Ysen has been appointed to defend the accused woman. Ysen informs VG that she is traveling and has only had a short conversation with the accused on the phone on Monday morning. – I do not want to comment on the matter further until we have met physically and talked about the matter in more detail. But I can say that we have agreed to remand for two weeks, and that this is going on like office business, says Ysen to VG.
