The Police Union will close the Police’s payroll and accounting center in Kristiansund – news Møre og Romsdal – Local news, TV and radio

In 2017, a center for wages and accounting was established in Kristiansund, where around 50 employees work. In a hearing on the state budget in the justice committee, the Police Federation now proposes to close the center in order to strengthen basic preparedness and increase further training. – There are a good number of employees who we believe no longer have any function in the police. There you can find quite a few millions that can be reallocated and used for something else, says Unn Alma Skatvold, leader of the Police Federation. She says that the main tasks have been transferred to the Directorate for Administration and Economic Management (DFØ). – It is unnecessary to have such an intermediate center that I now experience just sitting and looking for tasks to maintain its own existence, to be completely clear, says Skatvold. Union leader Unn Alma Skatvold believes that administrative staff in Kristiansund must give way in order to get more police in the police district. – Does not agree The head of department at the office in Kristiansund does not recognize what Skatvold claims. She is well aware that there is a great need for them. – The tasks we perform here are absolutely necessary and required by law. If we are not going to do them here, some others will have to do them, and then there is nothing to save on it, says Marit Reitan. It’s not true that they don’t have enough to do, says Marit Reitan. She is head of department at the Police’s payroll and accounting center in Kristiansund. Eirik Haukenes She confirms that some tasks were transferred to DFØ, even before the center was established in Kristiansund, but that this led to a reduction from 70 to 50 positions. In addition, they have experienced growth after the police introduced a new accounting principle. – What do you think about the developments that came from the Police Union? – I think that it is not unusual for the operative parts of a business to have little insight into and perhaps little understanding of the administrative tasks. We have 19,000 employees in the police who must be paid every month, and we have an annual budget of NOK 21 billion for which an account must be rendered, says Reitan. – Disrespectful The proposal to the association makes the mayor in Kristiansund shake his head. – It is both a meaningless and disrespectful statement. Then perhaps one should get a little more familiar with what they actually do, says mayor Kjell Neergaard (Ap). Kjell Neergaard, mayor of Kristiansund municipality (Ap). If the Police Federation thinks that there is not enough to do here, then it is better to fill the office with enough tasks instead of making such a silly statement, says Neergaard. Einar Kaldhol, chief union representative in the Parat police, is very surprised that the union is proposing closure without this being the case. – I feel that it is not true at all. I feel that our members in Kristiansund do a good job, are hardworking, proactive and are interested in contributing to the police delivering on our social mission, says Kaldhol.
