15 May 2023 at 14:33 The police will investigate their own use of violence The police are starting a research project after a video of the use of violence by their own service personnel at Kongsberg. – The police believe that the video from Kongsberg is not descriptive of how the agency in general solves its social mission, but sees that there are several people who have doubts about it. We wish to remove that uncertainty, and this must be done through knowledge and research, says police director Benedicte Bjørnland in a press release. The research will look at topics linked to disproportionate use of force, but also police practice linked to, among other things, reporting practices and the duty to intervene to stop a colleague who exercises disproportionate use of force. The Norwegian Police Academy will carry out the research on behalf of the Norwegian Police Directorate.
