On Wednesday last week, the police in Ålesund seized nine 200 notes and two 500 notes that were counterfeit. Now the police in Møre and Romsdal report that they have reason to believe that more may be in circulation. – The fake cash seized by the police is perceived as real at first glance. They have watermarks, different serial numbers and look quite professionally made, says police attorney Hanne Egeness in a press release. She is responsible for the prosecution in the case. Asking people to be careful The police are therefore asking businesses that accept payments to be careful when receiving cash. Police attorney Hanne Egeness. The police also ask shops that do not have a cash supply system to be particularly careful. – The most noticeable sign of the fake notes is the pass through. It is, for example, possible to see elements from the other side of the ticket more easily than with normal tickets. The texture of the bills is also somewhat different from normal bills. We therefore ask everyone to inspect notes before accepting them, says Egeness. This is one of the fake 200 notes that the police seized last week. Photo: Casper Blindheim Kanestrøm / Police
