The Police Federation: Towards “Swedish conditions”

The Police Federation believes that Norway is on the way to “Swedish conditions”, but the development may stop, the union wrote in a press release. – Basic preparedness in the police must be strengthened. The agency is on the edge, says union leader Unn Alma Skatvold. The union points to several trends which they believe show a negative development, including negative crime trends, negative staffing trends and a decline in the professional environment. – As a first goal, we must get all recently trained police officers into work. And then we have to put in place a long-term plan that ensures both a gradual increase in staffing and a predictable plan for operations and investments, says Skatvold.
