The police are investigating a murder in Stjørdal

It was on Saturday evening at 8.01pm that the police received the first report. It was the accused man who turned up at the police station himself to report what had happened. On the night of Sunday, the accused sat for questioning. – The man has explained himself, and seems to be willing to cooperate with the police. For the time being, we do not want to say anything concrete about what he explains and how he pleads guilty, for reasons of witness influence. This is what the prosecution officer at the police in Trøndelag, Thomas Berg, told news on Sunday afternoon. – But we have formed a picture of the incident so far, based on conversations with the accused and findings at the scene. There are no other suspects in the case. The police say that a series of interviews will be carried out on Sunday afternoon. The friends refer to the accused and his late wife as nice people. – We have met them almost every day, and we are not aware that there has been any trouble between them. This is just sad and painful, they say. In addition to questioning, forensic investigations were also carried out on Sunday. Electronic seizures in the case are also reviewed by the police. – For the sake of the investigation, it is too early to say anything about the cause of death and motive for the murder. The accused man will probably be produced for imprisonment in Trøndelag district court on Monday, says Berg. He emphasizes that they have not had contact with the man or the woman before. It then assumed that there would be a seriously injured or dead woman in a home. – When we arrived, there was already an ambulance at the residence. The woman was eventually declared dead, says incident leader Karl Småland at the police in the Værnes region. The police were early to say that the incident was being investigated as a murder. An autopsy has been decided on the deceased. The accused and the deceased have minor children together. This is confirmed by public prosecutor Thomas Berg. They are taken care of by child protection. The parents are said to have moved to Norway approximately five years ago. The man’s defender, lawyer Kolbjørn Lium, does not currently wish to comment on the case. Stjørdal municipality is about half an hour north of Trondheim by car.
