– I thought it was a joke, it was simply hard to believe that it was a video from the Swedish Road Administration, says Truls Gulowsen, head of the Nature Conservation Association. On Monday, the Swedish Road Administration uploaded three videos to its YouTube channel. The videos were promotional videos for the new E18 West Corridor. The E18 West Corridor is one of Norway’s largest development projects. The first part of the road development will run between Lysaker and Ramstadsletta, and is around 4.4 kilometers long. It is especially the video about the Oslofjord that Gulowsen reacts to. The video shows a young diver. The introductory question is: “A cleaner Oslofjord.” What does that have to do with the new E18?” He describes the videos from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration as greenwashing. – Building a new E18 has nothing to do with saving the Oslofjord. In addition, he believes that if a fraction of the 17 billion kroner that has currently been set aside for phase 1 of the road project had been used, it would have been possible to initiate measures that would have had a much greater effect on the fjord. – We were quite shocked that the state actor would act in such a way. Shortly after the videos were uploaded to YouTube, they were made private. Now, however, they are republished and public again. SUPPORTS THE MESSAGE: Anja Bakken Riise supported the message about the importance of a clean fjord, but thinks it has little to do with roads. Photo: André Børke / news – Bare tull The environmental organization Framtiden i våre händel also reacts to the information videos from the Swedish Road Administration. – It almost seems as if you have to build a road to clean the fjord, it’s just nonsense. We can do that independently of a large and extensive road development, says manager Anja Bakken Riise to news. She supports the message about the importance of a clean fjord, but does not understand the need to connect it to a new road. Vouchers for the videos Tom Hedalen, Project Manager E18 Vestkorridoren, tells news that they vouch for everything that appears in the videos. STANDING INSIDE: Tom Hedalen states that the videos will be published again shortly. They stand for everything that comes out in them. Photo: Statens Vegvesen – They came out a little uncontrolled, without having been put into a context, and we apologize for that, but there is nothing in the videos that we are not responsible for, he says. They are also not surprised that there have been reactions to the videos. – We are aware that E18 is a controversial project, but it has been democratically dealt with and adopted. it is our job to build it in as environmentally friendly a way as possible. They are also not surprised that there have been reactions to the videos. According to him, the project is now in a demanding phase, and the videos are made to create a picture of what it will be like when the project is finished in five to seven years. – E18 is a source of emissions to the Oslo Fjord. By, among other things, replacing municipal and private pipe systems that leak and do not have the necessary dimensions, we also want to contribute to reducing emissions into the fjord, says the project manager.
