– The Norwegian Life Agency collapsed – news Vestland

– I have worked for eight years to get this store up and running. So this is the life’s work that fell to the ground, says Monica Bjørsvik. She owns and runs the store Evanger landhandleri, which has now been badly hit by the scandal overnight to Saturday. Voss Landhandleri opened in October 2014. Three weeks after the opening, there was a large flood that brought 40 cm of water into the store. This time there was up to 60 cm of water, and all the electrical equipment is short-circuited. – Me is the shop for the district. For Evanger, Bolstad, Bulken. There are many people here who depend on the shop, says Bjørsvik. There is extensive water damage throughout the store. Photo: Benjamin Dyrdal / news With tears in her eyes, she shows how much damage the scandal has done to the store. Many volunteers lined up to help. Many goods are stacked far higher than where they usually stand, but it was not enough. Many goods are destroyed, and the electrical system is broken. – We did what we could, says Bjørsvik in despair. – It’s something stupid. She is not the only one who has been embarrassed up close. Kirsti Buset at Voss has worked through the night to get rid of the water in the basement. – No, what should one say? There is something wrong, says Kirsti Buset. In the basement of Haugamoen in Voss, she stands with rubber boots while six water pumps work hard for life. Kirsti Buset and Jarle Rogne have worked through the night to pump out the water. The floor is ruined. Photo: Sjur Mikal Dolve / news Råka av flaumen in 2014 This is not the first time Kirsti Buset and Jarle Rogne have let their basement meet the wet element. In 2014, there was a 200-year flood at Voss, which caused the water to seep into the cellar. Then they had to pump out the water and clean it up. They must do the same this year. – We have no choice, says Rogne. – He actually wants to put cement in the whole basement, but it will be enough to refurbish, yes, jokes Buset. Six pumps are needed to remove the water from the cellar. Photo: Sjur Mikal Dolve / news The water level on Voss is somewhat lower than in 2014, but in other places such as Evanger and Skulestadmoen it is probably the biggest flood in modern times. It was in the 18-19 hours that the embarrassment really made an impression. Then they thought it would go well, but during the night more and more groundwater entered the basement. – How much work have they had with this? – We have been working all night with both pumps, clearing and shoveling water. On the outside of the house, the Civil Defense pumps out water from the basement. Sigbjørn Slåtten is the owner’s representative at the hotel, and shows off the wine cellar. Here lies wine worth several tens of millions of kroner, according to Slåtten. During the flood in 2014, water entered the wine cellar, and bottles and crates floated around. Last night, the staff moved all the wine up from the floor so it wouldn’t happen again. Around 25 thousand bottles are in the wine cellar. The meeting room at Park Hotel suffered extensive damage during the night. Photo: Sjur Mikal Dolve / news Water never got into the wine cellar, but the meeting area suffered water damage. – It could have been much worse. So there’s not much to do but start again, says Slåtten. Both the Voss cultural center and the two new football pitches have also been affected by a lot of water. Photo: Sjur Mikal Dolve / news It is unknown how much damage the flume has done, but in 2014 the price tag was around NOK 500 million. – There is major material damage in private and public buildings. It will cost many millions, says the mayor of Voss Herad, Hans-Erik Ringkjøb (Ap) to news.
