The Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen says that it is important that the Nordic countries stand together. – We are concerned about two wars, but at the same time we must be able to act on other challenges, for example climate challenges. Múte Bourup Egede, the Greenlandic Prime Minister, pointed to greenhouse gas emissions and waste disposal as important. – Greenland is here and we are ready. We want an equal partnership. Disagreement on the UN resolution Last Friday, the UN General Assembly voted on a resolution on the Gaza Strip. At that time, only Norway of the Nordic countries voted in favor. – We are not divided on humanitarian efforts in Gaza, but last Friday there was a point missing that condemned Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel. That is why Denmark voted against the proposal, says Mette Frederiksen. – We voted in favor. We voted for the Canadian wording that said Israel has the right to defend itself. But the conflict is not proportional, and therefore it was important for us to vote for a humanitarian ceasefire, says Jonas Gahr Støre.
