Since 2016, the music market recorded in France has returned to an ascending slope. In 2024, according to figures published Tuesday, March 11 by the National Union of Phonographic Editing (SNEP), it further increased by 7 % to cross the CAP of the billion euros (1.03 billion). This leap does not erase the years of crisis: this result represents only 54 % of that reached in 2002 – the golden age of the sector. While the global figures of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) are expected on March 19, its president Victoria Oakley considers this growth very positive, however, “Much better than that expected worldwide”.
In 2024, streaming asserted itself even more as the main source of income since it alone represents 664 million euros (+ 9.5 %). “This strong growth in streaming should continue”Note Victoria Oakley, especially for paid formulas. With 17, 7 million users, it now concerns a quarter of the population. “A proportion close to other countries of the Mediterranean arc, but far from other major music markets such as the United Kingdom, Germany or the United States, where the penetration rate is much higher”,, Do we recognize the SNEP.
