16 September 2022 at 12:45 The sports president reacts to the Trettebergstuen move: – It doesn’t help. The Minister of Culture gives sports and volunteering a handshake with faster payment of electricity support. Sports president Berit Kjøll is not impressed. Culture Minister Anette Trettebergstuen informs NTB on Friday that the Lotteries and Foundations Authority will speed up the payment of the electricity support money to the players in sport and volunteering. The sports president believes that the action taken is in no way sufficient. – It is all well and good that quick solutions are found to the liquidity crisis that many clubs are now facing, but it does not help when the net expenditure on electricity bills is so sky-high that the clubs are unable to pay them. The club coffers are empty, she says. – When the scheme was introduced last winter, electricity prices were at a much lower level than now. This means that the net cost of the sports teams’ electricity and gas expenses has become significantly higher, even with the same support scheme. For sports teams that own their own facilities, the net costs have multiplied from last winter. Therefore, the current support scheme must be significantly improved, and it is urgent, she continues. Today’s electricity subsidy scheme for sports and volunteering covers 80 per cent of expenses that exceed 70 øre per kWh. The Norwegian Sports Confederation has requested that 90 per cent of everything above 50 øre per kilowatt hour (kWh) be covered.
