It is the Spanish shipyard Navantia that was behind the construction of the frigate, and which is now being sued by the Ministry of Defence. – There is a legal process between the Ministry of Defense and the shipyard Navantia, but at the present time it is not natural to give more details about the lawsuit, says lawyer at the Government Attorney, Ole Kristian Rigland, to VG. Neither the Government Attorney nor the Ministry of Defense wishes to comment on what the lawsuit is based on to the newspaper. The frigate KNM “Helge Ingstad” collided with the tanker “Sola TS” in 2018. No one was killed, but the frigate worth over NOK 4 billion was totally damaged. The commander of the watch on the frigate has been sentenced to 60 days’ conditional imprisonment for negligence.
