The mild weather continues all week – plus degrees from north to south – news Vestland

– We have a bit of blue sky, but we don’t see the sun. It’s quiet and nice and six degrees, Audhild Adele Vold tells Jæren. In her immediate area, the snowdrops have peeked out in large tufts. The mild weather has also reported in other parts of the country, and it will continue in the coming days, according to state meteorologist Iselin Skjervagen: – It seems that it will remain on the plus side in many places in the north and south this week. In the north, there will be a mixture of rain and sleet, but the temperatures will still be on the plus side in many places. The plus degrees also apply in southern Norway – with the exception of the mountains. – It gets up to ten degrees on some days, especially at the start of the week. It is along the west coast and in the southernmost parts of Norway, says the meteorologist. In places other than Jæren, the first spring flowers have also appeared in the mild weather. But that is not unusual for February. – It varies from year to year, but the Gulf Stream gives Southern and Western Norway a slightly milder climate, says Kristina Bjureke at the Museum of Natural History. Wet wick in the north In addition to temperatures on the plus side, people in northern Norway must also brace themselves for a “quite wet wick”. There will be a lot of rain and some sleet, and some snow in higher areas. – There will be cities on and off, and all in all more precipitation than stayable weather, says Skjervagen. In southern Norway, the week starts with fine weather, while a precipitation field brings rain to large parts of the country on Wednesday. The hinterland may possibly get more rain than rain, but there will be some precipitation everywhere, according to the meteorologist. On Friday, a new precipitation field enters the far south of Norway, spreading from the Sørland coast and upwards towards Trøndelag. This seems to bring with it a mixture of rain and sleet, says Skjervagen. For example, in Oslo, the feeling of spring may disappear for a while with a sprinkling of snow. – But it probably won’t stay that terribly long, as it’s quite wet snow we’re talking about, says Skjervagen. Alternating winters Carlo Aall says it is uncertain what the long-term consequences of “yo-yo winters”, which we have seen this year, will be. Photo: Aleksander Åsnes / news The alternation between cold and mild weather has also characterized the winter in Western Norway recently. – It is the big changes that are happening in the winter country of Norway, that the winter starts to weather at both ends and in the middle of the winter it turns on and off, says climate researcher Carlo Aall at Vestlandsforsking – What are the long-term consequences of such on and off -striking, remains to be seen, says Carlo Aall. Aall says some changes are already showing up: – You get wet avalanches at times and places where there are dry avalanches. There will probably also be quite a few other surprises in the future, says Aall. A good start to the winter holidays Next week is the winter holidays in several parts of southern Norway, but it is still a little early to make a firm decision about what the weather will be like. – It seems that Monday is quite nice for the whole of southern Norway. There will perhaps be a little more precipitation in Trøndelag, but quite a lot of staying weather and fine weather otherwise, says Skjervagen. On Tuesday, there will probably be more rain along the west coast of Norway and up towards Trøndelag, but large parts of southern Norway will otherwise be fine. – Førebels looks like it could be two nice days for a lot of people, says the meteorologist.
