Mayer, who has two Olympic silver medals, will not get the chance to top it with gold on home soil. The reason is a hamstring injury he sustained during the Diamond League event in Paris on July 7. The injury occurred during the 110 meter hurdles in an admitted competition with three exercises. – It will be a miracle if I can compete in the Olympics, said the 32-year-old with blank eyes at a press conference recently. On Thursday, it became clear that the miracle has not happened. Mayer is a two-time decathlon world champion. He set the world record of 9126 points in 2018.
