On a rainy day in May, Australian Luvia Liang and Neil Caga stood ready to give each other promises of unity in good and bad days. However, the execution of this exchange of promises was somewhat untraditional. They chose to travel around half the globe to complete the wedding. The journey went from Sidney in Australia to Nusfjord in Lofoten. A WISH DESTINATION: Luvia Liang had long wanted to travel to Lofoten. Photo: Christin Eide Korona – We were actually going to have a wedding in Australia with all our friends and the whole family, Liang says. Liang is from China and therefore has a lot of family in the East Asian country. The disappointment was great when the coronary restrictions prevented, among other things, the bride’s parents from traveling from China to Australia. The couple then began to think differently. “If my family can’t come to the wedding, we might as well go to a place we really love,” Liang and her then-fiancé decided. The plan was therefore to combine the ceremony and the honeymoon in a longer trip to Europe. Memorable photo A few years ago, Liang scrolled on a Chinese app, similar to Instagram. There she came across a picture she fell in love with. The picture was from Reine in Lofoten. NATURE: Reine is located almost at the far end of the Lofoten Peninsula. Photo: Sondre Skjelvik – The lights and mountains were absolutely fantastic. “I’ll go there once,” Liang said to himself. The picture became the rams in her head and when the couple decided that they were going to Europe, Liang knew she had to go to Lofoten. Snow in May Prior to the trip, Liang was in contact with wedding photographer Christin Eide. Among other things, they discussed the weather, as it would have an impact on both the wedding photos and what clothes the Australian should pack. – She said that it would be spring with a temperature of between 10 to 15 degrees. VARIED WEATHER CONDITIONS: Between the rain showers, the bride and groom snapped pictures in beautiful surroundings. Photo: Christin Eide – I was very surprised when I arrived and it was still snowing, but it did nothing because it got even nicer, says the newlywed woman in an interview with news. On the wedding day itself, the weather had been very changeable, according to Liang. – We had to follow the weather forecasts all the time and take the chance as soon as it lit up. Car holiday German Lisa Bley and Max Haupt also decided to turn their noses north when they were getting married. Together with their one-year-old child, they packed the full car and drove from Leipzig in Germany to Lofoten. – It was actually quite spontaneous, we got a month off from work because of our child, Haupt says. HOLIDAYS AND WEDDING: Lisa Bley and Max Haupt drove through Denmark, Sweden and Norway before the holiday ended with a wedding in Lofoten. Photo: Amir Krieger Wanted to Scandinavia The couple had never been to Norway before. They too were lured by beautiful photos on social media. – We really wanted to go to Scandinavia, so my boyfriend researched several destinations. – It soon became clear that we wanted to go to Northern Norway, we looked at both Senja and Lofoten, says Haupt. However, the German couple is not limited to just one wedding. On the same date the following year, they have invited to a big wedding in their hometown. – July 7 is a special day, and next year it is a Friday. It’s perfect for celebrating, says the laughable German. Big demand Kristine Sandmæl is a prostitute in Lofoten and experiences a large demand for couples who want to get married in Lofoten.
