This is reported by the Icelandic broadcaster RUV. It is the second time in four weeks that Iceland has been hit by a volcanic eruption. This time the lava has reached all the way to the small coastal town of Grindavik, where around 4,000 inhabitants live. The inhabitants were evacuated on Saturday evening after a series of small earthquakes which were a warning of the upcoming volcanic eruption. The eruption is the fifth in the country in less than three years and led to the opening of several new fissures in the ground where lava flowed out. – In a small village like this, we can be considered a joint family. Everyone knows each other. It is tragic to see this, says Sveinn Ari Gudjonsson to the AFP news agency. – It is unreal.
