In May, a technical error was discovered which led to messages of concern not being registered correctly in some cases and thus not being picked up by the municipal child protection service. 22 municipalities are affected, and 63 reports of concern have been registered as lost. The municipalities have succeeded in retrieving information from several of the reports, but not all. It is particularly the child welfare service in the Kristiansand region and in Bergen that stands out with many reports that were not registered. – The report from Bufdir gives us a good picture of the causes, scope and consequences of the error which led to reports of concern never reaching the child protection service, says Minister for Children and Families Kjersti Toppe to news. – It is important, because we must learn from this to ensure that something like this does not happen again, and that future reports of concern about children and young people’s care reach the child protection service. It is particularly worrying that the error was not discovered until two years had passed.
