13 March 2023 at 19:19 Frenchman leads the battle for the RNB gold French Isabelle Travadon is the first driver in the thoroughbred class to enter checkpoint Karasjok. The experienced dog handler has seven dogs in the team that started on the stage to Karasjok. There are 14 dog handlers competing in this class this year. In addition to FL1200, FL600 and FL-Junior, a world champion in the 600-kilometer RNB team (purebred dogs) will be named in this year’s edition of the Finnmarksløpet. RNB stands for Registered Nordic Breed. The purebred polar dogs are Samoyed, Greenland dog, Siberian husky and Alaskan malamute. In practice, the teams in the RNB class run the exact same route as the FL600. The teams in the FL600 and RNB class started alternately from Alta and compete side by side along the track. It is only when they have reached the finish line that there will be medal winners of their own in the RNB class, in line with what it is for the other races. Travadon is in 13th place in FL600 to Karasjok. At that checkpoint, drivers must take a mandatory rest of six hours.
