The former Boxing champion and current  Constituent  in  Santa Fe , Alejandra “Locomotora” Oliveras, is currently hospitalized in a delicate condition. She remains in the  Intensive Care Unit  of the José María Cullen Hospital after suffering an  ischemic stroke  six days ago.

According to the latest medical report, Oliveras is “clinically stable” but still in critical condition, with the prognosis remaining  reserved . At  46 years old , she was initially hospitalized after experiencing episodes of  disorientation . Initially treated at a local dispensary in  San Tomé , her condition prompted an urgent transfer to a specialized facility, where doctors diagnosed her with a stroke caused by an  arterial blockage .

In the following days, her condition showed a  gradual deterioration . Her political advisor, Ariel Sclafani, confirmed the family’s concerns, stating that their situation was “very delicate” with hope seeming to dwindle. On Monday, medical examinations revealed the worsening of  cerebral edema , which necessitated surgical intervention that same evening.

On Wednesday, Oliveras underwent a  decompressive craniotomy  following the discovery of  intracranial hypertension , a serious condition that posed additional risks to her brain. This complex neurosurgery was aimed at alleviating pressure and preventing further complications.

Once a celebrated figure in professional boxing, Oliveras has transitioned into a political role post-retirement from the sport in  2019 . She was a candidate for national deputy in  2021 , and later served in the  Ministry of Security of the Nation  under Patricia Bullrich, focusing on security in sporting events. In April of this year, she was elected as a  Constituent in Santa Fe , where she leads a block of three, playing a pivotal role in the ongoing constitutional reform process championed by Governor  Maximiliano Pullaro .

Locomotora Olivera’s brother reported how the childhood of the boxer was.

“We as a family are shocked; we never expected this to happen. You can anticipate health issues in a chronic patient, but not from an athlete as fit as my sister,” shared  Jesús , Oliveras’s brother, during an interview with  Luis Ventura  on *True Secrets* (America). He expressed disbelief and concern, emphasizing her previous health and fitness.

During the conversation, the host inquired about the prognosis given by the doctors and whether there was any preventive measure that could have been taken. Jesús noted the peculiar difficulty posed by strokes in younger athletes, surmising that while they can be treated, predicting their occurrence is problematic. He recounted the events leading up to the stroke, recalling how he and his sister were together watching a film the night before. “She seemed perfectly fine, and suddenly, the next morning, found her confused and unable to move,” he recounted, highlighting the urgency with which an ambulance was called.

He elaborated on the critical nature of the surgery, revealing that a section of Oliveras’s skull was removed to alleviate pressure. The family was reportedly unaware of her hypertension, despite having previously worked with medical professionals during her boxing tenure. This adds a layer of complexity to the situation, raising questions surrounding the unseen risks that athletes face.

Reflecting on his last conversation with her prior to the surgery, Jesús stated, “I asked how she was, if she had eaten. She was thinking about us, showing her caring nature. Now, she requires mechanical assistance. After ten days, the medical staff will evaluate her progress. Knowing her fighting spirit, I believe she can pull through.” These sentiments encapsulate the hope and strength that her family draws upon during this trying time.
