The government will raise the retirement age – Latest news – news

9 November 2023 at 09:16 E24: The government will raise the retirement age – In order for the pension system to be sustainable over time, both for each and every one of us and for the state finances, we must make adjustments going forward, says Labor Minister Tonje Brenna (Ap) to E24. She hopes for a broad settlement in the Storting on the new pension reform. It is happening after the Pensions Committee last year presented proposals for adjusting the pension reform from 2011. One of the goals of the new pension reform is to increase the retirement age, Brenna confirms to the newspaper. She still says that they want to increase the limit gradually. Last year, the Pensions Committee proposed introducing what they called a “standard retirement age”, where the limit of 67 years is replaced by a limit that is gradually increased. One of the examples from last year’s report was that the normal retirement age for those born in the 90s will be 70.5 years – compared to today’s 67 years. The lower age limit for drawing a pension for this group rises from 62 to 65.5 years. Brenna confirms to the newspaper that the government agrees with the main features of last year’s report.
