The government wants free kindergartens in the north – news Troms and Finnmark

This can be confirmed by news from several sources. Free kindergarten will apply to everyone in what is called the action zone in Troms and Finnmark. It covers all municipalities in Finnmark as well as seven municipalities in Nord-Troms; Kåfjord, Skjervøy, Nordreisa, Kvænangen, Karlsøy, Lyngen and Storfjord. The aim of the action zone is to create a more attractive region to live, work and run businesses in. They have, among other things, exemptions from employer’s tax, less personal tax and exemption from electricity tax in the action zone. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and the government have previously expressed great concern about large-scale emigration from the area bordering Russia, and believe it is important to maintain settlement there. – It is important not only for people who want to live here, but also for Norway’s position in the north. Having people up towards the Arctic and the border with Russia is important for our security, Støre said in May. The government will also help those who live in the area with their student loans. Today, people in Finnmark and Nord-Troms can write off their student loan with up to ten percent of the loan base, limited to NOK 25,000 a year. According to news’s experience, this arrangement will be changed so that the student loan can be written off even more quickly. There will be a press conference in Kirkenes about this on Thursday.
