The government is asking for input on how ambitious the climate target should be in the new policy. They have put forward a proposal to reduce emissions in Norway by between 55 and 80 per cent by 2035, compared to the level from 1990. Norway has previously committed to cutting emissions by 55 per cent by 2030. The government writes, among other things, that “The level of ambition in the lowest part of the span will not be in line with the guidelines and requirements of the Paris Agreement and the Climate Act”.
